Sometimes teething can be extremely difficult. Who are we kidding? It’s usually always extremely difficult. But, fortunately, there are things you can do to help your child as well as make the teething process a little easier. To help you help your child, Dr. Jacob Shrayman has some helpful tips he would like to share!
Tip No. 1: Massage your child’s gums with your finger. After you wash your hands, of course.
Tip No. 2: Cool a spoon, pacifier, or teething ring in the refrigerator for a few minutes and then let your child chew on it. This can comfort the tender gums.
Tip No. 3: Avoid using amber teething necklaces and lidocaine to soothe your child. This is recommended because amber teething necklaces are purported to release a substance that relieves pain, but that is not proven to be true. Lidocaine is a topical anesthetic that can be poisonous to your child. In fact, it can cause seizures, brain damage, and even death.
If you use our tips, there is a chance your child can receive the comfort they deserve and you can have the break you need.
